Darling Point Public School Mural
Darlington Point Public School is a charming institution, and it was a pleasure to collaborate with Samantha Davies from the Petaurus Group, alongside students and community members, on the creation of a mural at the school.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote intergenerational bonds through community-based art projects, oral history sharing, and environmental activities at Darlington Point School. The children's native flower designs exuded joy and vibrancy. Special thanks to First Nations artists Emma Weymouth, Emma Johnston, and Samantha Davies for their valuable contributions to the mural.
I extend my gratitude to elders June Weymouth, Verona Harrison, and Kim Patten from the M.A.K.E group (Murrumbidgee Arts Kinship Enterprise) for their invaluable insights. Their stories inspired us all, as they generously shared their time connecting with the children and discussing design ideas.
The students' pride in the vibrant mural and signage reflects the dedication and passion invested in the project. Grateful for the support received from the Petaurus Group, NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund, and community partners, including Murrumbidgee Council.
