Art Therapy

I am a Contemporary Artist and Creative Arts Therapist who holds a Master’s in Therapeutic Arts Practice.

My approach to Arts Therapy prioritises safety, client engagement and creating an atmosphere of gentle and supportive spaces. My work is client-centered and trauma-informed.

I have worked with clients from all walks of life and value the individual and their story. I have special skills in engaging with people and an inclusive community is a rich community. I have experience working with clients from different demographics, including the elderly, people with disability, First Nations, adolescents and communities, modifying approaches to maximise client comfort and accessibility.

As a practising artist, I offer a diverse range of materials and art techniques for clients to create in a safe environment. My aim is to help clients find their voice and explore possibilities through creative emergence.

I am bound by the ANZACATA Standards of Professional Practice and Code of Ethics and NDIS registration Professional Practice and Code of Ethics. My personal commitment to honour the values and ethics of the practice to the client's best outcome professionally and creatively with the utmost integrity, care and safety for the inquirer.

I live from core values of integrity, emergence, creativity, compassion and authenticity.

All sessions are offered in my comfortable Arts Studio where you are invited to make yourself at home, explore and create.

Let’s Create…

“I like really nice paper and quality art supplies, I love finding different bits and pieces  for my clients like pom poms, glitter, materials, a tin of old bits of jewellery that clients love to rummage through, they immerse themselves in the process.”

My Services

  • Individual Arts Therapy Sessions

Creative art sessions using various art forms to explore feelings of lived experiences to improve self-awareness and reduce anxiety for the inquirer.

  • Art Workshops

Engaging group sessions focused on artistic expression, fostering creativity, and providing a platform for shared artistic experiences.

  • Sand Play

A therapeutic modality that uses sensory play to explore and communicate emotions non-verbally through the creation of meaningful landscapes.

  • Guided Drawing

Guided drawing does not use imagery, but the direct expression of one’s self sense. In rhythmic repetition, individuals can release tension and pain, assert their boundaries and nurture their soul.

Commonly Asked Questions

  • Art Therapy is based on research that indicates creative expression can enhance people’s well-being. Art Therapy provides a non-verbal language for all people to express and explore their thoughts, emotions and experiences in a safe environment. Participants do not need to have artistic skill, just an openness to participate.

  • Art Therapy is not about artistic skills or knowledge, but rather works by engaging creativity and imagination – qualities that all of us have. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way of creating.

  • Art Therapy is very different to an art class. The Art Therapist is not an art teacher and while you may learn about new materials or ways of being creative this is not the aim. Rather, the aim is personal expression and discovery in a safe space.

  • The Art Therapist will not interpret the artwork. You are the creator of the artwork and bring unique experiences and cultural influences to the creative process that inform any meanings the artwork may hold for you. You can explore your artwork as little or as much as you would like to during the Art Therapy process.
